MRSA, HIV, Syphilis, Clostridium Difficile (C Diff): Infection Control/Bloodborne and Body Fluid Diseases (1PC)
Clara Boland, PhD, RN
Nursing Clinical Consultant - Gerontology
Infection control has become a primary issue of focus within both state and federal government agencies, resulting in multiple regulatory changes for healthcare entities to take effect during the 2017-2019 period.
While we can read, or be made aware of changes in laws or guidelines, the key to prevention is for those at the point of impact –caregivers, emergency responders, etc. – to:
Understand the various causes of these infections and how they are spread.
Know what measures are required to protect ourselves, and those we care for, from becoming infected, and
Know how to work safely with one who is infected or who we are not sure about.
This program will focus on specific Blood borne and Body Fluid related infections – MRSA, HIV, Syphilis, and Clostridium Difficile (C. Diff.)
